Chainguard Catalog Starter: Five production-grade container images free, with supported versions and rebuilds
Chainguard’s beta Catalog Starter plan gives a new organization access to five selected non-FIPS container images, including their supported versions, for use in real workloads. The images follow standard hardening and rebuild processes, but the free plan does not carry the paid CVE-remediation SLA.
How to claim this perk
Follow these steps through Chainguard Catalog Starter.
Access: Direct application
- 1
Sign up in the official Chainguard Console with company email and create the organization.
- 2
Review the catalog and confirm the five-image set before completing selection.
- 3
Follow the documented pull-token setup for CI and runtime use; track token expiry and rotation.
Who can apply?
- Use a business email domain and create a new Catalog Starter organization. Personal email addresses and domains already associated with a paid organization do not qualify.
- Choose up to five images carefully: the FAQ says selections are fixed for the life of the free plan and cannot be swapped, despite earlier setup text referring to changing selections.
- FIPS and commercial builds, contractual CVE SLA and dedicated support are excluded. Dependent Helm-chart access counts toward the stated limit.
- The free five-image plan cannot be added to a paid subscription or used to offset a larger licensed rollout. Existing infrastructure/compute costs remain yours.
